I have put together a pack of textures that I think will be useful to not just myself, but other designers as well. These are all scanned at 400dpi and are very large files, so they can be used in both web and print design. These textures are free to download, and free to use in both personal and commercial work.
If you wish to distribute this texture pack, please just place a link back to this post and also keep the ReadMe file intact. This is my first texture pack, and depending on the response I will be posting more Freebies regularly. If you have any feedback or suggestions, just drop a comment. I’d love to hear from you!
I have all of the textures saved as high quality JPG’s. These can be used in both web and print design.
Download Texture Pack Resized (~30mb)
I also have the textures in 400 DPI Tiff’s, split into two files. You can download them below:
The first zip, MCT001a.zip, contains the following textures:
Cardboard Box 1, Cardboard Box 2, Brown Paper Bag, , Cardboard Texture, Duct Tape.
Download Texture Pack 1 via Rapidshare (~130mb)
The second zip, MCT001b.zip, contains the following textures:
Manila Envelope, Wood Panel, Napkin 1, Napkin 2, Notebook Cover, Address Book Cover, Notecard Light, Notecard Dark
Download Texture Pack 2 via Rapidshare (~68mb)
I know, I need to be more creative with my names.. But at least they’re descriptive and to the point. Right?
I hope you all enjoy and use these textures, and if so, just say thanks! Or if you’re feeling overly ambitious, you can donate by PayPal using the following button!

Hey Ryan, I know how difficult it is to find the right textures and it’s so nice of you to make these available to the general public. Even though I don’t have a need for any at the moment there are probably others out there who do and so I am tweeting this post for you.

Hey Sire,
Thanks so much for the tweet! I tend to have a lot of textures around, so I just thought they might be useful for others as well. I’ll have more in the future too, so if you have any requests or need a texture for a certain project, let me know and I’ll see what I can dig up.
I really need to have a good look at your blog Ryan as so far my first impression is that it’s very good.
I have one suggestion for you and that is you should really install a reply to comment plugin so that people get notified when someones replied to their comment. This will in effect increase your return visits.

Hi Sire,
Thanks for the kind words! It’s been a work in progress for quite awhile, haha. Do you have a plugin that you would recommend? Not a bad idea at all. I do have a “Thank Me Later” plugin which sends a follow up email, but notifications of replies seems like it would be a lot more effective.
No worries mate. I use wordpress threaded comment which is mainly a threaded comment plugin but has that as a built in feature. I find it better than the standard built in threaded comment as it doesn’t do a complete page load when replying to comments saving on resources.

Thanks for the link! I’ll have to check it out.. Oh man, my to-do list never seems to get smaller, haha!
Hi Ryan
Can’t keep up with the number of posts you are publishing.
Don’t you sleep?
Great looking textures… and free!
Can’t be bad.
I’m the same as Sire, I don’t need any textures at the moment but I know where to come when I do.
Just trying to remember… have you always had CommentLuv or is it new?

Haha! I’ve been busy lately, and no, I don’t sleep
I’ve had ComLuv for awhile, but I did add a description to the Comment Form so people who are unfamiliar with the plugin understand what it does.
Thanks for the kind words, Keith! Always nice to see you around the Blogosphere
Thank you very much for the download links. I am a follower of your blog.

Great textures for using as backgrounds! Thanks!!
This is excellent work. Thanks for these. one thing left the color scheme is usual as like normally some famous texture has so a little modification needed in regarding colors.
Like other readers I also do not need these texture at this moment but I have added them in my collection.I highly appreciate as you shared your work with us.
I am new to this blog but after 2-3 post I ended up bookmarking it and Definately going to become part of your reader group keep good work up:)
One design flaw I find out while commenting,I am not sure whether it is a flaw or bcz of my monitor resolution ; the moment I focuses on any of comment section fields(name/email/website) ; at that moment you doing some css changes like changing border etc ; In the same process length of text field is also getting increased bcz of which it gives a feel of partial text field got cut and do not blends with the design. Here are my system details when I experienced this issue :
Browser : Firefox 3.6
Screen Resoluation : 1280×1024
Hope I have explained it clearly.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope the textures come in handy for you in the future!
I will have to check out the problems with the comment form. I think there is a CSS error on my part with the :focus on inputs. I am usually logged in so it might be something I had overlooked. My blog is always a work in progress, and there are always things I need to fix, haha. Thanks for pointing the problem out, it really helps to receive insight from someone else.
Thanks again, I hope to see you around!
I want to say a quick thank you for sharing these and I really appreciate the use of them. I love using crushed paper and the like in my work; this will look perfect for some personal projects I have coming up.
Thank you very much!

I have been browsing online more than three hours nowadays, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. Itˇs lovely price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net shall be much more useful than ever before.
I think some of these textures would work well for business cards in certain industries. The cardboard would be great for a shipping business or a box company. The wood texture would be great for a flooring or wood furniture business. These textures open up a lot of options for being creative. Here is a detailed resource to help you with all of the business card basics (standard size, finishes, design options): http://www.onlineprintingservices.net/business-cards/
Thanks for giving away this pack. I think some of the textures will fit in my incoming project…thanks again for your kindness.
Hi Wid,
I’m glad you were able to find these useful! If you do end up using them, I’d love to see what the final project is.
