I’ve been busy! Here’s just a couple of the things that have been occupying my time.. You can only begin to imagine what I have in store! (Pretty compelling, hm?)
Invoice and Resume ReDesign
I was admiring Melissa’s work on her new design for her invoices and it got me thinking, “It’s about time I update my look on paper…” I still have a lot more to do, but I’ve started to redesign my Invoices and Resume. I kept the look consistent with all of my other work and tried to apply the same design principles. Click the thumbnail and view both of these in a larger size. I know no one actually likes getting an invoice, but what do you think of the design? I look forward to hearing any feedback you have on the new design, so leave a comment below!
Newsletter
I have recently set up a newsletter, which I will be sending monthly-ish. You can subscribe to my newsletter by clicking the link on the right hand side of the page. (Or by clicking that link in that last sentence.. see what I did there?). When you sign up you can check off what you are interested in hearing about, and if a certain newsletter doesn’t fit in that category, you won’t receive it. I know I have a wide demographic here, so I thought setting up the different categories would help by only sending people things that they want to hear about.
In my newsletter I am going to try and have the following things:
- Design Tools & Resources
- This will include links to useful tools I’ve found, as well as some free downloads of textures, templates, patterns, etc.
- Exclusive Coupons and Deals
- Every month I will include a coupon/discount on my products and services. This could be anything from a deal on business cards to 25% off 1 year of hosting.
- News and Updates
- I will try to recap monthly news and updates here at Metacom Creative. This will include updates on projects, things I’ve learned about the business and anything else I can think of!
So if you are interested, please subscribe to my newsletter and feel free to contact me with any feedback! This is new to me, so I will be relying heavily on feedback from my readers. Thank you for your time and support!

Hi Ryan
Looks very professional.
As you point out, the common theme adds a lot of impact.
See that you’ve added a newsletter and newsletter subscription… how about a few tips on setting up a newsletter feature?

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the response!
I’m still figuring out some things with the newsletter, but I do plan on writing a review and possibly a basic “how-to” guide. Once I familiarize myself with the whole Newsletter deal, I’ll definitely write about it. I’m using Mail Chimp which seems to be like a great service so far. Very user friendly, and their Free Plan offers quite a lot. Up to 500 Subscribers, and 3000 emails a month. Definitely enough to get started and do some learning!
Hi Ryan
Mail Chimp sounds great – I’ll do a bit of Googling and start looking at setting up a newsletter.
Hope yours goes well.

Well it’s a lot more colorful that what I’m used to but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I reckon it may even take the sting out of getting a bill

Haha, nowadays half of my invoices are digital, so I don’t have to worry about printing costs of ink, so I decided to be a bit more creative with it. We’ll see how my clients feel about the bill.. I have a feeling no matter how much time I put into the design of an invoice sheet, they still won’t be the biggest fan.
I still print mine manually as my software doesn’t allow for anything else. Still, at least I can see the looks of gratitude when I hand them the bill

I guess the time has come indeed for me to change mine also. I mean it always makes things better to look at and etc. when you add in a little bit more color right? It all depends on what statement you want to make. I just Got a magazine from a garage sale on new designs. I guess i’ll be trying them out tomorrow.

Hi Cowvin,
Even if people hate getting an invoice, it can never hurt to make it pleasing to the eye (At least I hope so). I use full color on my digital copies, but in print, I will probably use a bit more limited color, or black and white. It also can’t hurt to make your resume stand out from a stack of other ones!
The design on both looks nice and I like the match with the site. I couldn’t read the resume. Too small.
