To say that I have been busy would be a giant understatement. And that last sentence was a lame cliche.. but I couldn’t think of a better way to put it. I have been busy with projects, as always, and this whole moving thing threw some more busyness into the mix.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I used a GPS application on my Droid while taking our cross country Amtrak trip. The trip was a lot of fun, and I would like to think that after crossing the country three times total on Amtrak, I’m becoming a bit of a veteran. I ran into a few problems with the GPS at the beginning and end of the trip, but aside from that, it kept a great record of the route.
Enough rambling, here’s the interactive map! I didn’t add any videos, but I will probably put together a future post with just my favorite pictures and a couple videos. You may want to view East Coast to West Coast on Amtrak on the EveryTrail website so you can view in full screen. My blog layout has a limited width, so you can’t see the map and the pictures at the same time. Either way, take a look and let me know what you think! To go through the pictures at your own pace, just click the pause button and click to the next picture.

ME & Blue Website
I have been working with Melissa Bergen on a new website for M.E. Ster’s vintage inspired designs, ME & Blue. It has been a pleasure working with them, and the new website is up and running, so go visit!
Photo to Canvas
You might have seen the link on my sidebar before, called Photo to Canvas before. I recently got a nice 16″x24″ photo printed by these guys and I just wanted to give them a big thank you by helping to spread the word. I had some trouble on my end with my files at first, and they patiently helped me get everything sorted out. The size and finishing options are great as well. And just to clarify, I am not getting any commission and I am not trying an affiliate of theirs. But check them out, they do good work!
Anyways, that’s all for now! Be sure to stay tuned, I’m starting to be able to find time to get back to my blog!

I used the gps on my droid during a vacation recently. It is incredible how easy it is to track where all of you pictures were taken. No more trying to remember where you were when you took a picture.
Hey Sam,
It actually scares me sometimes how accurate the GPS is, haha. But it is really cool to be able to share locations along with your pictures. I love hiking, and the EveryTrail app is a great way I can share not only pictures, but my travels.
ME & Blue is a great website. Im trying to find some photos worthy of hanging on the wall so can get give photos to canvas a shot.
Hi Rob,
Thank you for the compliments! ME & Blue was a fun project to work on. If you can’t find a single picture you’d like, you can always try making a collage in Photoshop, or anything you’d like.
Thanks for stopping by!
I have used the GPS system in my car. Most of the time it failed to locate exact locations but after changing some settings it works great.
Wow!
Puts me to shame.
GPS, new website and photo to canvas.
You have my permission to sit down, put on your favourite music… and have a large alcoholic beverage.
As Woody Allen once said… “Man does not live by bread alone… there must also be a beverage.” – LOL

Thank you for the permission Keith!
GPS is damn easy to use and found the great results from it. ME & blue looks awesome. Cheers mate!
Thank you Chintan! The app I used, EveryTrail, really made everything easy to document,
Yup GPS is really a cool gadget to have it on a long journey as it doesn’t only tell about the route/ your position but also the speed that you are travelling with. And it has become the must aid for navigation in any area like in Air, Sea or Land. By the way ME and Blue looks awesome.
It does help out. After recently moving, I love knowing that if I get lost I can just use the GPS on my phone to find where to go.
I’m looking forward to having a decent GPS for my Nikon. The current generation isn’t that great, but nikonrumors.com is suggesting a bluetooth enabled version coming soon.
I know – that’s a bit of a tangent. What you’ve done here with your Droid is pretty sweet.

The whole idea of Geo-Tagged pictures seems cool to me. With the continual improvements in technology, I can only imagine what cameras will be capable of in the near future.
I am always using my GPS when traveling outside my city however sometimes it either gives me wrong directions or it just gets disconnected from the GPS server.

GPS is great.. when it works! Mine seems to be pretty reliable, although a few times during the trip it was slightly off. For the most part though, it is very accurate!

Really like how the images are geotagged.. technology is moving at such a fast pace but something like that really shows you how it is changing the understanding of the world around us.
Technology is amazing. The fact that it is so easy nowadays to document a trip like this to share with others is incredible.
Good to see you included pictures and videos attach in a Google Map. Then, I find GPS very useful for outdoor trips. Anyway, it is interesting to know and see your outdoor photographs. Just keep moving forward, opening new doors, and discovering new things. Until next time!

I do really appreciate your post. It’s very informational and inspirational – in my own opinion. I’m a kind of person who really loves to travel. I enjoy every minute of my life and every experiences that I have wherever I am going. So, upon reading your post and looking at your photographs I knew that your trip was really fun. Indeed, I do agree that GPS is very helpful especially if you’re traveling to a place unfamiliar to you. It helps you track the exact location if where you are and the place where you will go. Just continue to enjoy on what you’ve started. Great Job!
I love traveling too. Enjoying every minute of your life is the best way to live! It’s great when people have that positive outlook.
Nice post Ryan, I really appreciate your effort in taking these photos on your way to Amtrak. As I can see in your photos, you really enjoyed your travel. You also used GPS in tracking your destination and it’s good to know that it really helps you a lot. You provide us with almost a complete detail of your trip with the use of your photos, GPS and Google map. Great job!
Your ME & blue website design is cool. Really like that! Appreciate your effort spend on designing.
Mobile computing is much more than the old days. I am using android phone too. Like its flexibility very much!
I never thought that GPS is a one cool, handy gadget that could be very useful in travel. Hmm.. Maybe I should buy one. Oh well, love the pictures you have there! You seemed to enjoy your travel. Thanks for the Share! More power!
I used GPS a year back while i was in Australia. Australia has Solid network for navigation system and it was really very easy for me to find any single street and address in Sydney. It works well on iPhone (Native without any App.)
The Google Maps app is also great for Android. It’s almost impossible to get lost nowadays!
It’s nice to hear that GPS is a useful gadget. It really helps in tracking destination. As I can see on the picture you really enjoy your trip. Thanks for sharing just keep on posting.
With the kind of technology we have today, anything is possible. So, if ever I’m going to be lost. I will surely find a way to be back home with the help of technology of course.

That’s another great feature. You can even organize your gallery on your Droid by City/State. Pretty impressive!
I really love to travel. I’ve visited different countries and I never encountered big problems in going to any places because of GPS. Using it every time I travel is an advantage for me because I was able to save a lot of my time in going to certain places and enjoy taking pictures as well.
It is really great! I’ve found GPS so helpful since moving. If I need to find anything I can just look it up from wherever I am.
